This is a Hagi ware piece fired with a straw ash glaze. Hagi ware is fired at a low temperature. No synthetic glaze is used. The difference between synthetic and natural glazes lies in the size of the crazing and the amount of negative ions emitted. Fired in an electric kiln at 1260 degrees, it is a soft, warm, and soothing pottery.
